Trent Butcher Geography-
- Located in the landlocked plateau of Central Asia between China and Russian Siberia.
- They have many steppes. They couldn't grow crops on the steppes.
- Instead, the steppes—high, dry, treeless grasslands interrupted by mountains—were ideal for raising sheep and horses.
- Sheep provided meat, milk, cheese, skins, wool, and even fuel in the form of dried dung.
- Horses provided mobility for hunting and for carrying people and belongings, which helped the tribes migrate each year.
- This is why the Mongols were nomadic.
